Café del Mar is the pre-club bar of the island. It was in this venue that José Padilla helped pioneer the now famous Balearic Beat, a blend of 'house' and the rhythms of traditional flamenco.
Nowadays, the resident DJs here maintain the custom of spinning these sounds, mixing chilled out tracks with the notorious sunset, and house beats with the party atmosphere that develops heading into the early hours.
Holding such a reputation as it does, Café del Mar is certainly worth a visit, if not only to be able to judge it for yourself. Be warned that you may be slightly disappointed with the venue itself and the over-hyped sunset, but in our opinion it is still an entertaining experience and a must for any party lover. Fire shows, performed on the rocks beyond the decking, and the incredible DJ mix ensure an evening here is unforgettable and a great way to kick off the night.
