San Antonio

18km North-West of Ibiza Town is the dynamic town of San Antonio (Sant Antoni or San An if you are planning on staying for the summer); famed for its electrifying nightlife, the recent influx of bars and clubs has transformed a once small fishing village into a hedonistic paradise.

The San Antonio region is split into two diverse areas; San Antonio Town and San Antonio Bay. Throughout the summer season the town is thriving with life, with both the busy port and the infamous ‘West End’ operating to full capacity. Located just off the Passeig de Fonts, the West End is synonymous with fast food restaurants, crowded bars and two of Ibiza’s most popular nightclub destinations Es Paradis and Eden.

Moving away from the West End, the town offers a multitude of hip bars where one can enjoy sundowners late into the evening. The Passeig Maritim is blessed with some of the finest drinking haunts San Antonio has to offer, accompanied by stunning scenery out over the sea. There are many fine eateries in and around the area, however for more traditional cuisine, it is well worth the short journey further along the coast to one of the more secluded restaurants.

San Antonio Bay offers a significantly more relaxed approach to that of the main town. Stretching over 2km of coastline, the sandy beaches, fun-filled bars and friendly restaurants are more aligned to that of a family environment. Towering over the sands are numerous hotels and apartments that more than cater for the high demand experienced here each summer. A regular bus service links the bay with San Antonio Town allowing tourists the chance to experience the best of both worlds; however the bay is a resort in itself.

Although beaches are relatively scarce in San Antonio Town itself, the dazzling coves and small beaches found both to the north and south of the town, more than make up for this.Cala Gracio and Cala Salada lie to the north, the latter a tranquil cove engulfed by turquoise waters that is most certainly worth visiting. Alternatively, head south of the town to find many fine stretches of sand, some accessible by road but others solely by boat; where one is presented with wonderful snorkeling opportunities, water sports and rustic beach bars in which to take refuge from the midday heat.
