Description
Discover one of Ibiza’s most mysterious coastal treasures: a dreamlike sanctuary where sculpted stone, emerald water and island legends create a landscape unlike anywhere else.
Reaching this isolated site requires a challenging hike over steep, rocky and uneven natural terrain. The descent takes approximately 45 minutes, while the more demanding return ascent takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. A very good level of physical fitness, proper sneakers and at least one 1.5-litre bottle of water per person are essential. Water shoes are also strongly recommended for exploring the rocky area and entering the pools.
At first sight, the natural pools resemble the remains of a forgotten civilisation. Geometric cuts, sloping walls, stone steps and seawater-filled cavities form an otherworldly setting between the cliffs and the Mediterranean. Their true story is equally fascinating: the site was once a sandstone quarry, and quarrymen carved its extraordinary shapes directly into the coast.
Explore this open-air labyrinth and admire the contrast between human craftsmanship and the power of nature. The sea has transformed the abandoned cuts into crystal-clear pools at different levels, while wind, salt and sunlight constantly change the colours of the rock and water.
The atmosphere became even more distinctive during the 1960s, when travellers and artists were drawn to the site’s seclusion and unusual beauty. Buddha faces, fish, peace signs and spiritual motifs were sculpted or painted onto the stone, helping transform the former quarry into a symbol of Ibiza’s free-spirited heritage.
Discover its carvings, hidden corners and natural viewpoints while listening to stories about the island’s hippie community and the mystical legends inspired by the imposing rocky islet rising offshore.
If sea conditions allow, swim in the emerald waters of the natural pools, surrounded by sculpted rock formations. Swimming is optional and remains at each participant’s own discretion. Water shoes are strongly recommended because the rocks may be wet and slippery.
After exploring the pools, begin the demanding ascent and return before nightfall. Finish the experience beside the sea at sunset, watching the sky turn gold, orange and violet behind the silhouette of the rocky islet.
Combining a challenging hike, historic stonework, counterculture art, island legends, emerald waters and a spectacular sunset, this experience reveals one of Ibiza’s most secretive and enchanting worlds.
