Ibiza Fiestas

A Fiesta is the day on which the Patron Saint of each town is celebrated or commemorated. It is a long standing tradition implemented essentially in the countries of Hispanic culture. In some regions of Spain, like Ibiza, these one day fiestas have gradually turned in to festivals, often running for over a week because as we all know, Ibiza people love to party! Celebrations almost always include fantastic events like Church Mass, a gathering in the town with Ball Pages (folk dancing), live concerts by local artists and an awful lot of eating, drinking and being extremely merry! During the colder winter months, a large marquee is set up in the main square and the festivities take place inside it. Many of the costs are covered by the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) and the parties just get better and better every year, often with fabulous firework displays, weather permitting.
